And now Daryl's going to feel all guilty.
I’m tired of Daryl feeling guilty. He and Shane actually appeal to me because they appear to have the mindset and skillset to be badasses in the new world, but they won’t let Daryl stop being all sensitive and shit.
Things I liked: the bar scene was pretty good. They were good bad guys and the director did a nice job of building the tension. I like Herschell falling off the wagon and admitting he was wrong. I like Shane not even pretending to be a nice guy any more. I hope we get more Shane taking over the group.

Especially the bar scene, it was very well done.

I ran across a pretty interesting possible season finale spoiler last night
that’s renewing my hope a good bit, especially with a few things they’ve showed in the teasers for the remainder of the season.

The reason I think they might be staying on the farm
is that Rick may have endeared himself to Herschel by blowing away the dudes from Philly, showing that he’s willing to protect his and Herschel’s peeps, so Herschel may want them to stay now (except for Shane). I hope to hell I’m wrong.
Just wish the Philly dudes would have had Phillies shirts on when Rick blew them the fuck away. That would have been sweet.

To be fair, all he does is stand around, watch people, and judge. That's Shane's main beef with him.
Still, his extra-sensory perception is all-too convenient when the writers are clearly trying to draw them into a big throwdown.

I mean if he’s even thinking about something like that, then Dale’s got a reason to suspect Shane of pretty much anything.
I think that you combine this instance
with the fact that Shane seems to be more tightly wound since he got back from the town without Otis and he promptly shaved his head (kind of an obvious sign that he’s changed) and you can deduce that he is not being completely honest about what happened…especially if you despise the man and think he is always up to something.

One thing that's been bugging me about the show
and it’s prolly a nerdy detail thang: none of the characters seem the slightest bit worries about blood spatter from the walkers. Wouldn’t you think a splash of walker blood into the eye or some-such would be just as likely to turn you as a bite?

Lori decides to drive at a high rate of speed to a destination she doesn’t know how to locate in order to find a person she just sent two men to find. Dumb. And not a dumb character kind of dumb: dumb writing and the kind of unbelievability that makes this show not as good as it should be.

They can't really worry about it in the context of the show because it would be impossible to protect yourself from it in that environment
So they’re acting like it’s not a big deal.
You’re still exactly right that it’s weird, but it’s only one of the ways that this show treats zombies differently. The idea that zombies would sit in a church like they were is another.

Rick and Hersh and GlennDog make it out of the bar. Get back to the farm and they come to an agreement that they need each other and can stay.
But….the Farm gets overrun. Everybody in the family dies except for Glenn’s slampiece. They are forced back on the road.

his character has served its purpose. he has come to terms with the main antagonistic issues his character had.
his character would see it as going to be with his wife and rest of his family, and saving the lives of 6 or 7 other people.

Love that Rick went hard
Everybody was thinking he was too soft too survive. That one scene showed that he is starting to realize you have to be cold-blooded to survive.
It also shows that he can kill other humans as well….which is important because I am thinking eventually down the line Rick will have to kill Shane….Or perhaps Shane will kil Rick.
But I think one kills the other at some point.

They're so far away from the books
what I know that matters is skeletal, and may amount to nothing. I’m relying more on the previews than anything. They’re going to have to get off the farm somehow, that may be exactly it. Maybe six guys pin them down and the last one runs back to whoever after the first five get killed. They go back to the farm, and then the whole other crew shows up.

the town looks pretty well put together. the bar was in great shape, looked untouched.
the pharmacy still had a good amount of stuff in it, and the herschels family didnt seem to ever have issues finding what they needed there. i bet there is still a good amount of stuff there, or herschel knew the guy and knows of a secret stash or combination or a safe or something like that. i could see the place being moderately picked over, but still having a majority of what they needed.

and I, like other zombie fans, had an idea and expectation for what made up the zombie world and what passes for zombie lore. Maybe it’s budget restraints and maybe it’s just limited by inferior writing/direction, but there is so much more of this world I want to see besides this small group’s struggles.
I still have hope that we'll get to see that as the show matures and expands.

but one of my favoritest things about the Wire is how very different each season’s direction was, and yet the writers had the skill to make it all relevant.

I wouldn't recommend watching the whole show THAT fast.
I watched about a season a week when I was plowing through it, but I also took some time off between seasons.
It’s such an intricate show, I personally would recommend leaving yourself time to read reviews/recaps from a writer you like, such as Sepinwall.
I second this.
While watching it in quick secession will help you follow the overarching story, there’s a lot of stuff going on. Follow the minor characters carefully, because many of them become major characters later on.

then a fifth season back with Rick and crew

They really have done a good job with his character.

I get it. maybe we should do this every week

well, I won't be participating during or immediately after
it usually takes me a day or two to watch it. So it’s probably not even worth it if I’m not going to be around.
