LoneStarBall Fitness Geeks Unite!

In last nite's OT thread, we started an LSB group over at Fitocracy. Fitocracy is a place where you 'level up' the more you exercise. There are several of us already in the mix. You can join Fitocracy here and then join the LSB group here.

/Shameless plug -> Since I need to include more words, why not check out my music (ElectricOkra) on SoundCloud and if you like it you can buy it on iTunes. :)

I'm not a fitness geek.

But I am trying to get less fat, and I’ve enjoyed logging my activity so far. Hey… anything that allows me to talk about me is okay in my book! Like this post!

I'm in on the Fitocracy group.

At this point, I have 2 flights of stairs logged. At the very least, this is showing me how little physical activity I do every day.

Also, I can second the plug for the ElectricOkra music. Good stuff!

I've recently done the Insanity routine and now I'm on Insanity: Asylum

started just after Thanksgiving. I’ve been ecstatic about having fitness as a part of my lifestyle and love to chat about it.

I'm in

I’ve slacked off on my workouts over the past 6 months. Gotta pick it back up.

Have we ever made a thread where people post their workouts?

If not, this seems like it’d be a good one to do it in

Try going to their twitter feed

and click on one of the links there.

It might be that WhipSmart is out of invites.

which might be why his link doesn’t work, I think each account has 10 invites. I know I’ve been out for months now, and keep expecting to get more but haven’t seen any. I think the group LSB might get an invite code of its own, when the average level gets to 7.

Someone who got a new account could step up and hand over their invite codes if they weren’t planning on using them.

Heh, from the FAQ
Achievements are recognitions for when you do something extra special. They’re designed to be showed off so when you get one, display it loud and proud :)

An interesting take ahead:

The Rangers losing the World Series the way they did might have been the best thing to happen to me.

I 100% buy that

since, for exactly the same reasons, the 2010 lost World Series might have been the best thing for me.

Fitocracy recommended I friend

Whipsmart, and I saw he was making a LSB group over there. These days I’m Just getting in some semblance of shape, and spending less time online overall, and what time I do spend online I’m more likely to be on a health&fitness site as anywhere else.

Hope everything is going well with you.

I've been thinking about doing this, but a bit concerned starting it already out of shape

I’ve heard conflicting reports on whether its more for gym rat types or for a getting itno shape type

there are plenty of modifications you can make when the specific exercise isn't feasible

the hardest thing to do with P90x is just to keep coming back every day

No you dont have to already be in shape to do it

It will get you into shape if you aren’t. The two buddies im doing it with both were a little overweight, not too terribly much, and both have lost considerable weight through the first month.

I, being in the military, was in better shape than them and so I have not lost as much weight but built muscle and gotten in better shape.

if you aren’t in great shape you wont be able to do as much of the exercises and should probably take more/longer breaks than what the videos tell you. But as kevin says above the hardest part is coming back everyday and eating right. Its been easier for me and my friends because we are doing it in a group so we motivate each other. We’ve had a couple skip days here and there but for the most part have stuck to it.

Oh and yoga sucks at first but gets better the more you do it
