Josh Hamilton - The Ballplayer ... The Man...

Josh Hamilton, the Ballplayer is Roy Hobbs-esque. As a ballplayer, he truly is ''The Natural.'' Josh Hamilton, the Man is a wonderful human being who is doing his very best to live out his life in a way that is meaningful not only for himself, but for others as well. That he is a human being with flaws, is well documented. I believe the key here is that he is well aware of his flaws; what needs to be done daily. As well, he knows that when he comes up short, it affects not only his life, but the lives of so many others, and most importantly, he genuinely cares. He faced the media and he faced us all with feeling, heartfelt emotion, and acknowledgement of his transgression. [ Think about it - he apologized for having cocktails - who of us has not done that?] He apologized sincerely to his wife & family, the Rangers, the fans, and to all who look to him. Because of his sincerity, his humbleness, and his genuineness, I believe he will succeed where so many others have failed. While he has not been Roy Hobbs-esque in his personal life, he has faced his life with tremendous courage and I believe that during the course of his life he will have hit many game winning home run's. Home runs that will have made a difference in his life and the lives of many others. In the game of baseball, even the greatest ballplayers strike out; so too it is true in the game of life. True greatness comes when we overcome the strikeout and go forward to hit the game winning home run. I, for one, believe that he will go forward from the strikeouts and hit many more game winning home runs, both on the field and off. Swing and a long one Josh ...
