Elvis Andrus OPS Over/Under Poll
With the ZiPS projections coming out for the Rangers last week, we are doing a series of polls asking folks to pick whether they think various players will go over or under the OPS that ZiPS projects.
ZiPS projects Elvis Andrus to have an OPS of 698 in 2012.
Do you think it will be over or under that figure? Cast your vote...

All he did
was beat up on weak September pitching. Had 3 months w/OPS of .652 or less.

Anybody else still get sad when they see photos from Game 7?

Elvis Andrus #1 of the Texas Rangers smashes that damned preying mantis from Balmer.

OT: FanGraphs question
what qualifies as a high leverage or low leverage situation on FanGraphs? Doesn’t have to be specific, just general.
Jon Daniels > Nolan Ryan > awesome

The more runners on and the fewer outs remaning -- both game and inning -- the higher the leverage.
Oh, and the closer the score.

Over
I don’t think he’ll have an outstanding OPS, but I wouldn’t expect him to take a step back next year.

I'm projecting over
and for the love of God I hope it’s over. A sub .700s OPS? C’mon Elvis can do better than that.

Over
.740

That would be a 32 point improvement over last year
I don’t see that that is that outrageous.

My guess is he'd have to slug around .400 for that to happen
Since he’s a .340’s OBP guy.
I don’t see him slugging .400.
There's a fire in the city of pictures
Leaving nothing but ashes below
2nd half of last year
He was a .364/.373 guy, which is just about .740
And for 100+ ABs against the soft-underbelly of Sept/Oct pitching, he was a ..430/.470 guy
At his age, a bit more power wouldn’t be crazy to see, and if he shows he can lace the gap and occasionally clear the wall, he’ll probably end up drawing a few more walks too.
He hits too many damned grounders for me to think he's going to develop even gap power all of a sudden.
And we know that’s what Ron likes him doing, so I don’t look for that to change anytime soon.

I expect to see more XBHs and BBs this year from Elvis
I think .740 is a reachable number for him

Elvis was apparently stronger than ever last year
And still had little power. Not expecting much in that department this year
I bet he'll have a pretty good obp line
but power? sheesh.

Contrarian here
I don’t think he is a .350 OBP type, and unless he starts hitting more line drives, I suspect his OPS will be .697. I have voted higher on almost everybody else. So this is a make up prediction…barely lower.
