Two injury notes from T.R. Sullivan, one relatively good news, one bad.

First of all, on Adrian Beltre:

Adrian Beltre’s MRI showed only a mild strain of the left hamstring and no tear. He is officially listed as day-to-day but was not in the lineup on Monday night.

That's the good news. Now for the bad...

One of the success stories from the Rangers' farm system last year was the rise of righthanded pitcher Justin Miller. A 16th round draft choice of the Rangers in 2008, Miller had a breakout year in Frisco in 2011, striking out 77 hitters and walking 24 in 69.2 innings of relief work, with a 1.81 ERA. Miller's impressive fastball/slider arsenal had him viewed as a potential future bullpen candidate, and earned him a spot on the team's 40 man roster.

However, Sullivan says that Miller, who has not pitched this season, tore an elbow ligament, will undergo Tommy John surgery which will keep him out until at least 2013. The Rangers released Miller, in order to clear room on their 40 man roster, and apparently plan on re-signing him to a new contract at some point in the future.
