The Texas Rangers have acquired outfielder Ryan Spilborghs from the Cleveland Indians for cash considerations, according to an Indians press release. He will be assigned to AAA Round Rock. He will not be on the Rangers' 40-man roster according to Anthony Andro.

The Indians signed Spilborghs to a Minor-League deal back in January, after the Colorado Rockies non-tendered him in December. He would have earned a $1 million base salary if he was on the big league roster. He reported to AAA Columbus on April 3rd and hit .250 / .341 / .331 in 85 plate appearances.

The Rangers were interested in Spilborghs over the off-season, according to Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star Telegram. With Leonys Martin out 6-8 weeks, the club needed some outfield depth.

Spilborghs, 32, spent all of his seven seasons with the Rockies, earning a .272 / .345 / .423 career line while creating around negative one Wins Above Replacement.
