Neftali Feliz was scheduled to make a rehab start for Round Rock today. That's not going to happen, as Feliz has been scratched from his start due to "elbow discomfort."
There's no indication as to when Feliz would make his next start, or what this does to his rehabilitation schedule, but this is a pretty significant blow to a Ranger team that has already lost Colby Lewis for the season, has Koji Uehara and Mark Lowe on the disabled list, and appears unlikely to add a starting pitcher via the trade market.
This is turning into a lost season for Feliz, who was making the transition from the bullpen to the starting rotation this year. Feliz went on the disabled list in May, and it was still up in the air as to whether he would return to the rotation when he was ready to be activated, or if he would go to the bullpen. Alexi Ogando is being stretched out as a possible starter, and with Feliz having this setback, it seems more likely Ogando will go to the rotation.
