There was a mini-panic in the Twittersphere yesterday when the news came out that Yu Darvish's work yesterday was curtailed because of a sore right quad, a situation that was exacerbated when Darvish canceled his media session yesterday. Darvish normally meets with the media two days before each start, and as he is scheduled to start on Thursday, yesterday would have been the day.
This led to speculation that he may not be able to start on Thursday, when the Rangers kick off a four game homestand against the Minnesota Twins.
However, T.R. Sullivan writes that there is no cause for alarm...Darvish is expected to make his start on Thursday against Minnesota, as scheduled.
If, for whatever reason, Darvish would not be able to go on Thursday, or if Darvish aggravates the quad on Thursday and has to leave the game early, the Rangers would likely turn to Roy Oswalt to step in for him. Oswalt started for the Rangers on Saturday in Toronto, so pitching again on Thursday would mean he was going on a normal four days' rest.
