Matthew Emmons-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

It wasn't easy but the Rangers beat the A's 9-7. With the win, the Rangers ended the series with a 2-2 tie. That means the A's spent four days in Texas and leave gaining no ground. That also means the Rangers reduced their magic number to clinch the American League West title to 3.

The A's definitely made us sweat it out but the Rangers were able to take the finale thanks to a long-awaited big first inning and some timely hitting with two-outs and runners in scoring position. Good try, Oakland.

Magic Number: 3
