Mike Adams is out for the weekend and is questionable for the playoffs after undergoing an MRI on his injured right shoulder

T.R. Sullivan writes that Mike Adams will not be available to pitch this weekend, and his availability for the playoffs is in question.

Adams is apparently continuing to have issues with pain in his trapezius muscle, which sidelined him earlier this month. Reports on Twitter indicate that he had an MRI on his shoulder today.

Adams gave up three home runs yesterday in .2 innings, the first time in his career that he's allowed multiple homers in a game.

Adams has been the team's primary eighth inning reliever since coming over from San Diego via trade in July, 2011. It had appeared that Adams was one of five pitchers who had jobs in the playoff bullpen nailed down, along with Joe Nathan, Alexi Ogando, Koji Uehara, and Robbie Ross. Tanner Scheppers, Scott Feldman, Roy Oswalt, and Michael Kirkman were thought to be fighting for two, or possibly three, spots in the bullpen. Adams' injury woes open up the possibility that all four of those pitchers could make the playoff roster.
