Yankees, Girardi agree to four year contract

USA TODAY Sports

Joe Girardi is staying with the Yankees, agreeing to a new four year contract

One of the storylines of the very early part of the offseason was the future of Yankee manager Joe Girardi...would he return to the Yankees?  Would the Cubs hire him?  Would he head to the television booth?

Mystery over, as the Yankees have announced that Girardi has agreed to a four year deal to stay on as the team's skipper.

Girardi managed the Florida Marlins in 2006, leading them to a 78-84 record and being named National League Manager of the Year.  Girardi was nevertheless fired after the season by owner Jeffrey Loria.

Girardi took over for Joe Torre as the manager of the Yankees prior to the 2008 season, and has a 564-408 record as manager of the Yankees.
