Jacoby Ellsbury to the New York Yankees: 7 years, $153 million

Jacoby Ellsbury has agreed with the New York Yankees on a seven year deal worth more than $142 million, according to a report from Mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News.

Ellsbury, 30, was a first round draft pick of the Boston Red Sox in the 2005 draft, and has been Boston's centerfielder since coming to the majors for good in 2008.

Ellsbury has had issues staying healthy, playing in just 18 games in 2010 and 74 games in 2012, and despite a 32 homer season in 2011, he's primarily a speed and defense guy.  He was an incredible 52 for 56 in steals in 2013 while putting up a .298/.355/.426 line in 134 games.

Reports indicate that, if Ellsbury does sign with the Yankees, that would not necessarily preclude them from re-signing second baseman Robinson Cano.

From the Rangers' standpoint, indications have been that they were never really focused on Ellsbury, preferring free agent outfielder Shin-Soo Choo.

UPDATE -- The deal that has been agreed to is reportedly 7 years, $153 million.
