As I keep pondering what JD might do for left field/leadoff/DH, etc... I keep coming back to this conclusion...
I would choose the rumored 4yr/$64 million for Granderson over the rumored 7yr/$140+ million for Choo. Plus, you MAY be able to get Granderson on a 3yr/$50 million deal with a $14 million option for the fourth year. This would cover his 33-35 or 36 seasons.
He could start in 14 (letting Choice have one more year in AAA), platoon and DH in 15 (Rios option picked up), then replace Rios in 16 and 17.
I just feel that even though Choo is a little better across the board AND a leadoff hitter, the cost doesn't justify signing him.
This lineup is pretty salty for '14:
CF- Martin; SS- Andrus; 3B-Beltre; 1B- Fielder; RF- Rios; LF- Granderson; C- Soto; DH- Moreland; 2B- Profar
