Texas Rangers rumors: Sergio Santos was going from the Toronto Blue Jays to Texas in a three-way deal agreed to a couple of weeks ago, according to Jon Paul Morosi on Twitter, but the deal fell apart after another one of the players involved in the deal failed a physical.
Santos, who turns 31 in July, has two years of team control left, and was the closer for the Chicago White Sox in 2011. He was traded to the Blue Jays for pitching prospect Nestor Molina prior to the 2012 season, but missed most of 2012 and part of 2013 with shoulder surgery and elbow surgery.
Santos had a 1.75 ERA in 2013 in 25.2 innings, with 28 Ks, 4 walks (only two unintentional), and one homer allowed.
There's no indication at this point who the third team was or what the Rangers would be giving up. I don't really have much to offer on this, other than, the Rangers are clearly looking to have depth in their bullpen for 2014.
