Tuesday Morning Rangers Update

Nothing says "Pitchers and catchers report" like a photo of balls - J. Meric

The latest news and notes on hey look we spring training now.

Pitchers. And. Catchers. Report.

The Associated Press has written something of a spring preview of the Rangers. In doing so, they've made note of all the change that marks the team as it heads into the 2013 season. And it's true. Goodbye Michael Young, Mike Adams, Mike Napoli, Josh Hamilton, Koji Uehara, Scott Feldman, and Ryan Dempster. Hello A.J. Pierzynski and, uh, Jeff Beliveau?

Nevertheless, as T.R. Sullivan writes, Ron Washington doesn't care what you or anyone thinks about the "disappointing" Texas Ranger offseason.

Richard Durrett's spring issues list continues with a look at who will man center field in 2013 (Spoilers: Craig Gentry and Leonys Martin). It won't be Michael Bourn, thankfully. It also probably won't be Engel Beltre, sadly.

Behind the DMN paywall, Evan Grant writes about a hypothetical scenario wherein Washington would want Jurickson Profar on his Opening Day roster while, as a role reversal from last season's stretch run, Jon Daniels might be hesitant.

Sullivan has a blog post up with more from Profar Volteface Theater. Washington said yesterday that Profar would not see work in the outfield this spring in the latest U-turn. Perhaps the decision makers are getting so good at backpedaling that they too will collectively move ahead of Julio Borbon on the center field depth charts.

Anthony Andro writes about how Mike Olt is willing to do whatever it takes--including working more in the outfield this spring--to fight the sudden near extinction of Mikes on the Rangers' roster.

Sullivan's Notebook covers Yu Darvish's early arrival to camp, Michael Kirkman looking to make the roster out of spring for the first time, and Joakim Soria throwing off the mound for the first time since his Tommy John surgery yesterday.

Drew Davison has notes basically on the same notes as Sullivan's notes. But sit tight, soon there will be more notes for folks to note.

Lastly, apparently the Rangers have been voted the Homecoming Kings of Dallas Ft. Worth Sports High.
