The Rangers have claimed 28 year old lefthanded pitcher Brad Mills on waivers from the Anaheim Angels.
To make room on the 40 man roster for Mills, the Rangers have put Neftali Feliz on the 60 day disabled list.
Mills was a 4th round draft pick of the Toronto Blue Jays in the 2007 draft out of the University of Arizona. Mills was traded to the Angels for Jeff Mathis in December, 2011.
Mills has a 7.76 ERA in 53.1 major league innings, striking out 51, walking 31, and allowing 10 home runs.
In 4 seasons in AAA, Mills has a 4.68 ERA.
Mills has been almost exclusively a starter in the minors, and has started 10 of his 15 major league games.
I'm not sure if this is a waiver claim the Rangers are making because they feel like Mills could upgrade their 5th starter slot, or if they're just grabbing him so they can try to run him through waivers and outright him come Opening Day.
