The Rangers have announced that lefthanded pitcher Brad Mills, who was claimed off of waivers from the Anaheim Angels just a few days ago, has cleared waivers and been outrighted to AAA Round Rock.
Mills is expected to be in the Express rotation, and the Rangers claimed him in the hope that he would be able to provide some pitching depth at AAA.
With Mills having been outrighted and Coty Woods returned to the Colorado Rockies, the Rangers' 40 man roster now stands at 38. Derek Lowe, Jeff Baker, and Nick Tepesch will all have to be added to the 40 man roster, so one additional roster spot will have to be cleared. Julio Borbon is expected to be traded or designated for assignment by Sunday, which would open up the final roster spot necessary for the Rangers' to add the three players not on the 40 man roster who are making the Opening Day roster.
UPDATE -- It appears Nick Tepesch won't be added to the active roster until his first start, on April 9, which means Borbon is still a possibility for the Opening Day roster.
