Per John Blake, the Rangers have traded 37 year old minor league reliever Yoshinori Tateyama to the New York Yankees for future considerations.
Tateyama spent parts of the 2011 and 2012 season with the Rangers, posting a 5.75 ERA in 61 innings. Tateyama's numbers were hurt, however, by the Rangers using him as a long man, rather than as a righthanded specialist, which is his best role.
Tateyama has a career .200/.234/.274 line allowed against righthanded hitters, but a career .272/.353/.641 line against lefties.
Tateyama was dropped from the roster last winter, then signed a minor league deal with the Rangers, then opted out of his minor league deal this spring, then promptly re-signed with Texas. He has a 4.24 ERA in 34 innings for Round Rock this year.
