When it comes to rehab assignments, the Rangers and Colby Lewis are hoping the third time is the charm.
Colby Lewis is scheduled to pitch in the second game of tonight's doubleheader between the Frisco Roughriders and the San Antonio Missions, the first appearance in his latest minor league rehab stint.
Lewis has been on the disabled list since July of last season after suffering a torn flexor tendon in his elbow, which required surgery.
Lewis originally started a rehab assignment on May 9 with the Round Rock Express, but was pulled off of that assignment after suffering elbow pain. Lewis began a second rehab stint on May 20, but after pitching four innings in his second outing of the assignment on May 25, he was pulled back again.
This time, indications are that Lewis is feeling stronger and doing well in his bullpens, and the hope is that he will be able to return to the major league rotation in early August.
