Per the beats:
Rangers send Joey Butler to Round Rock to make room for Alex Rios.
— Anthony Andro (@aandro) August 10, 2013
Butler made one start, last night, and went 2-3 with two doubles, a walk, and a few stellar plays in the outfield. If he never again plays a big league baseball game, he should be proud knowing that he helped the Rangers win a game.
The assumption is, the Rangers kept Engel Beltre in lieu of Butler because Beltre is a better defender with speed that plays better as a bench option.
Replacing Butler is newly acquired right fielder Alex Rios who will make his Ranger debut tonight.
