So....one of the following was a guy the Rangers might have wanted in 2012, and the other is a guy they have:
1. 465 PA / 15 HR / 10.8% BB / 34% K / .360 BABIP / .245-.335-.436 / 109 wRC+ / 1.9 WAR
2. 374 PA / 13 HR / 2.4% BB / 14.2% BB / .294 BABIP / .278-.305-.435 / 96 wRC+ / 1.3 WAR
Most can probably figure out we're talking about Mike Napoli and AJ Pierzyckzkkzzzk here. And I have to admit, considering Napoli's extremely hot start...I'm surprised how close their overall numbers are. I just found it interesting.
Catcher was a huge question mark in the off-season and I think most of us were disappointed that Nap was let go without so much as a qualifying offer. Then the health questions cropped up and he signed for a paltry $5M....and it just seemed like either the Rangers didn't exactly read the market situation real well.
But Nap has been an absolute disaster the last month (.136/.269/.227) and pretty bad (.231/.335/.376) since May. Guess I'm saying I don't really have any regrets with the way things turned out. I like Nap while he was here but I certainly don't enjoy watching a guy who strikes out more than 1 of every 3 ABs.
