Texas Rangers rumors: The Rangers are looking to add two starting pitchers, according to T.R. Sullivan on Twitter, saying that the desire is to bring Colby Lewis back and add someone else.
One would assume that, should the Rangers be able to work out a deal with Lewis, the second starting pitcher they'd be acquiring would be someone who would be in more of a depth role, since Texas already has Cole Hamels, Martin Perez and Derek Holland in place, and since Yu Darvish is due back in May.
A couple of names to keep in mind are Henderson Alvarez and Mike Minor...both pitchers are expected to not be ready to start the year due to injury issues, but if the Rangers end up signing Lewis, they could be the type of secondary signing that Texas could pursue behind the pitchers expected to start the season in the rotation.
Currently, Chi Chi Gonzalez, Nick Martinez and Anthony Ranaudo are expected to fight for the fifth starter spot that will be open until Darvish returns (assuming Colby, or someone of that ilk, is signed to be the #4 guy), and if a second starter is added, that person would presumably be a candidate, as well.
