Well alright...
hopefully i'm not the only person who stayed home on a friday night to catch the game.

I did
But then, I have a wife and kid.

I stay home every night.

I'm staying in
Usually I go out after the games, but since this one won't end until late I'll just hang out here.

THERE IS NO SHAME in watching the Great Game of Beisbol on a Friday night.

Laird
should be hitting 6th tonight, but I guess at least he's playing.

by Brett Perryman on Aug 4, 2006 8:04 PM CDT reply actions

No kidding
Didn't he bat fifth once?  Maybe I'm dreaming.

by Dustin on Aug 4, 2006 8:11 PM CDT up reply actions

Nope
According to ESPN, he bat fifth once and went 3/5 with a double and two runs scored.  The guy can just hit, and they need to bat him higher so he'll get another at-bat.

by Dustin on Aug 4, 2006 8:16 PM CDT up reply actions

laird...
hit 5th the night that the rangers went on that 8 run explosion in one inning i think. But yeah he definately shouldnt be batting 9th

Grieve: The Yanks have struggled so far. - Lewin: Yeah, cry me a bag of money.

by WhipSmart on Aug 4, 2006 8:54 PM CDT up reply actions

Eh
I would think he would deny it if he didn't put down the claim.

by cmkelly29 on Aug 4, 2006 9:04 PM CDT up reply actions

but
I'm not saying that he did put down the claim. i doubt he did.

by cmkelly29 on Aug 4, 2006 9:05 PM CDT up reply actions

Maybe
But if he always denied in a situation like that, except when he did do whatever he was asked about, and demurred in those situations, then he'd be tipping his hand.

by Adam J. Morris on Aug 4, 2006 9:05 PM CDT up reply actions

Adam
How would you feel about it if we did put the claim on Jones?

Fernando Tatis homered tonight.

Former Ranger 3B...
HUGE ears... Only person in ML history to hit 2 grand slams in one inning.

by cmkelly29 on Aug 4, 2006 9:09 PM CDT up reply actions

Switch Hitter
I think one of those slams was from the left, and the other from the right.  Unfortunately that was when he was playing for STL and not TEX.

I was a big fan of his; I really thought he was going to be a player.

by Dustin on Aug 4, 2006 9:35 PM CDT up reply actions

Tatis
Tatis, hit both of his grand slams from the right side. Only one player (Bill Mueller) has hit two grand slams in one game from different sides of the plate.

Of course, as stated above Tatis is the only player that has hit two grand slams in the same inning.

I hate the next at bat
After a big homerun.

THe batter always just takes lazy swings, ready to defend the lead instead of add on to it.

Went deep after Teixeira's grand slam in Minnesota.  Young is a stud.

Now don't all you Buck haters ...
... feel silly for doubting Buck's determination to make Dumpmaster a starter?  Best ... manager ... ever!

To continue on the theme from last night...
The Rangers have gotten into the Angels' pen again.

That means they will have pitched at least 10.2 innings the last two nights with two games to go in this series.

That should help out if we see a close game in the next few games.

Lee
It didn't look to me like he ran out that ground ball, but I was walking by the TV and my angle wasn't that great.  Did he or didn't he?

he's just
really effing slow.

I don't believe the liscense plate story at all.

May be looking at a CG here.

I have a question...
both teams TV crews have their own cameras and producers, right?
How come you never hear Josh and Tom talking about being on the other broadcast's tv like their announcers were just then?

For those of you whining about Lewin...
I don't know what is worse: Hudler's interpretations of what's going on ("Carrasco's saying, I know I couldn't get the job done last night, but I know you need me tonight and will do my best" etc. ad nauseum) or Physioc's obsession with the sound of his own voice.

The can't-miss prospect status of Kotchman and MacPherson?  Are they in AAA, injured, or what?

He's hurt.

McPherson hasn't hit.

Wow
That is the luckiest catch ever. Still, nice play, DeRo. Maybe we can escape 2nd and 3rd with nobody out with only one run scored.

I sure hope Padilla (or whoever pitches the 8th) doesn't walk the leadoff guy Izturis. It always seems like they do.

screw
carlos lee....if we wanted a left fielder that did not hustle down the line, we could have kept alfonso and put him out there.  that is 3 times tonight he jogged the line.  when you are mkaing that kind of money, does it hurt to sprint once in a while?

Also...
Have you noticed how when he catches a ball, he messes around and doesn't throw it back in for awhile?  Someone could take advantage of that...

pink suitcase
Last Saturday at the ballpark, I saw Josh Rupe pull a pink suitcase on wheels to the bullpen.  I think it's a rookie hazing thing.  Anyone else know any more details about this ritual?  You guys are so smart.

I think thats a ritual.  Rookie david aardsma has a car rolling backback for the Cubs..
