Well alright...
hopefully i'm not the only person who stayed home on a friday night to catch the game.

by cmkelly29 on Aug 4, 2006 8:00 PM CDT   0 recs

I did
But then, I have a wife and kid.

I stay home every night.

we're in the same boat
my friend...
Grieve: The Yanks have struggled so far. - Lewin: Yeah, cry me a bag of money.

by WhipSmart on Aug 4, 2006 8:19 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

I'm staying in
Usually I go out after the games, but since this one won't end until late I'll just hang out here.

THERE IS NO SHAME in watching the Great Game of Beisbol on a Friday night.

by Dustin on Aug 4, 2006 8:23 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Im puttin in the call.
Everybody.

by TexGoesYard on Aug 4, 2006 8:03 PM CDT   0 recs

Laird
should be hitting 6th tonight, but I guess at least he's playing.

by zywica on Aug 4, 2006 8:04 PM CDT   0 recs

No kidding
Didn't he bat fifth once?  Maybe I'm dreaming.

by Dustin on Aug 4, 2006 8:11 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Nope
According to ESPN, he bat fifth once and went 3/5 with a double and two runs scored.  The guy can just hit, and they need to bat him higher so he'll get another at-bat.

by Dustin on Aug 4, 2006 8:16 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

laird...
hit 5th the night that the rangers went on that 8 run explosion in one inning i think. But yeah he definately shouldnt be batting 9th
rage against the gold club

JD
neither confirm or deny the Rangers had claimed Andrew Jones.

by pblack on Aug 4, 2006 8:50 PM CDT   0 recs

wouldn't expect him to...
Grieve: The Yanks have struggled so far. - Lewin: Yeah, cry me a bag of money.

by WhipSmart on Aug 4, 2006 8:54 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Eh
I would think he would deny it if he didn't put down the claim.

by cmkelly29 on Aug 4, 2006 9:04 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

but
I'm not saying that he did put down the claim. i doubt he did.

by cmkelly29 on Aug 4, 2006 9:05 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Maybe
But if he always denied in a situation like that, except when he did do whatever he was asked about, and demurred in those situations, then he'd be tipping his hand.

by Adam J. Morris on Aug 4, 2006 9:05 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Adam
How would you feel about it if we did put the claim on Jones?

by cmkelly29 on Aug 4, 2006 9:08 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

If anyone cares...
Fernando Tatis homered tonight.

by cmkelly29 on Aug 4, 2006 9:07 PM CDT   0 recs

Remind me
Who he is again

by TexGoesYard on Aug 4, 2006 9:08 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Former Ranger 3B...
HUGE ears... Only person in ML history to hit 2 grand slams in one inning.

by cmkelly29 on Aug 4, 2006 9:09 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Switch Hitter
I think one of those slams was from the left, and the other from the right.  Unfortunately that was when he was playing for STL and not TEX.

I was a big fan of his; I really thought he was going to be a player.

by Dustin on Aug 4, 2006 9:35 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

Tatis
Tatis, hit both of his grand slams from the right side. Only one player (Bill Mueller) has hit two grand slams in one game from different sides of the plate.

Of course, as stated above Tatis is the only player that has hit two grand slams in the same inning.

8 pitches
for Padilla.  I think he's sober!

by pblack on Aug 4, 2006 9:26 PM CDT   0 recs

Speaking Of Sober
I was in Stillwater yesterday and ran into Eddie Sutton. Here's the conversation:
Me: "How you doin', coach?"
Sutton: "How you doin', kid?"

So, I sent my older brother this text message:
"Just ran into and greeted Eddie Sutton in Stullwater. He looks hammered."

He's not as good as he used to be, but he's not quite DFA material yet.  I think he'd be a good Ranger, actually (bench).

I like the Rangers in this one
I think that long first inning's going to catch up to Lackey.  Probably around the fifth.  And the Rangers look more like a team that can take advantage these days.

by Dustin on Aug 4, 2006 9:50 PM CDT   0 recs
