Boston, MA (Sports Network) - The Boston Red Sox purchased the contract of pitcher Michael Bowden from Triple-A Pawtucket Saturday. Bowden is set to make his major league debut in a start against the Chicago White Sox. The move fills an open spot on the 25-man roster created with the multiple moves the Red Sox made Friday. Bowden was 0-3 with a 3.38 earned run average in seven games (six starts) for Pawtucket. The young hurler began the year at Double-A Portland, going 9-4 with a 2.33 ERA in 19 starts. Boston also assigned infielder Joe Thurston to Pawtucket.
