Cincinnati, OH (Sports Network) - Corey Patterson drove in the game-winning run on a triple in the eighth, and the Reds defeated the Giants, 7-6, in the second game of a weekend series at Great American Ball Park. Patterson finished the game 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored while Jay Bruce went 2-for-3 with two runs scored for the Reds, winners of three out of five. Ramon Ramirez got a no-decision after the bullpen gave up the lead in the eighth, throwing seven strong innings while only giving up three runs and five hits, with six strikeouts and two walks. Mike Lincoln (2-5) got the win despite giving up the game-tying run in the eighth inning. Francisco Cordero pitched a perfect ninth for his 26th save of the year. Randy Winn had two homers while Eugenio Velez also homered for the Giants, who have lost four of five. Kevin Correia didn't factor into the decision, allowing six runs on seven hits in six innings while striking out two and walking two. Jack Taschner (3-2) received the loss after giving up a run in the eighth inning. San Francisco tied the game in the eighth. Winn added his second homer of the game to lead off the eighth off Bill Bray, cutting the Giants' deficit to two. Bray proceeded to walk Fred Lewis and allow a single to Pablo Sandoval to put runners on the corners without an out, ending his stint on the mound. Lincoln came in and got Bengie Molina to ground into a double play, scoring Lewis. Lincoln couldn't get out of the inning, though, allowing Aaron Rowand to tie the game with a two-out homer to right-center. The Reds regained the lead for good in the home half of the eighth off Taschner. With one out, Bruce singled and Patterson tripled to drive in the game-winning run. Winn gave the Giants an early 1-0 advantage in the first with a leadoff homer off Ramirez. The Reds took the lead in the home half of the first. Chris Dickerson led off with a triple and Jeff Keppinger hit a sacrifice fly to even the score. Brandon Phillips and Joey Votto singled to put runners on the corners with one out. Edwin Encarnacion added another sacrifice fly to put the team up 2-1. After Bruce walked, Patterson hit an RBI single and Ryan Haningan hit a two- RBI double to give Cincinnati an early four-run cushion. Velez hit his first home run of the season -- a two-run shot -- with two outs in the second to pull the Giants within two. Encarnacion made it a 6-3 game in the third on his 24th home run of the season, off Correia.
