Diamondbacks acquire Eckstein

Phoenix, AZ (Sports Network) - The Arizona Diamondbacks have acquired veteran infielder David Eckstein from the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for minor league pitcher Chad Beck. Eckstein, 33, hit .277 in 76 games for the Blue Jays this season with a home run and 22 runs batted in. He went 2-for-4 with an RBI in Toronto's 6-2 win over the New York Yankees Sunday. In parts of eight major league seasons, Eckstein has a career batting average of .285 with 31 home runs and 307 RBI in stints with the Angels, Cardinals and Blue Jays. Eckstein has also been a part of two World Series Championship teams, the 2002 Anaheim Angels and the 2006 St. Louis Cardinals, earning series MVP honors for the Cardinals.
