Rays acquire infielder Velandia from Tribe

St. Petersburg, FL (Sports Network) - The Tampa Bay Rays acquired infielder Jorge Velandia from the Cleveland Indians for cash considerations on Sunday. Through 174 games over parts of eight seasons, Velandia has a .189 batting average to go with two home runs and 23 RBI. Over his time in the majors, Velandia has donned the uniforms of the Padres, A's, Mets, Blue Jays, Indians and a previous stint with the Rays.
