Giants activate P Sanchez for start

Denver, CO (Sports Network) - The San Francisco Giants have activated pitcher Jo Sanchez was scratched from his last scheduled start August 16 due to a left shoulder strain and was subsequently placed on the DL later that day. The 25-year-old is 8-9 with a 4.53 earned run average over 24 starts this season. The third-year player is winless in seven starts dating back to June 29. In other moves, the Giants purchased the contract of infielder Scott McClain from Triple-A Fresno and recalled both catcher Steve Holm and pitcher Brad Hennessey from Fresno. The club released catcher Guillermo Rodriguez from the 40-man roster to make room for McClain.
