Miami, FL (Sports Network) - The Atlanta Braves activated first baseman Casey Kotchman from the restricted list and activated infielder Ruben Gotay from the 15-day disabled list Monday. Kotchman spent 11 days on bereavement leave to be with his ailing mother, who was in neurointensive care in Florida. Kotchman, who was acquired in a July 29 trade that sent Mark Teixeira to the AL West-leading Angels, has scuffled to a .157 average with five runs batted in over 20 games since the trade. Overall, the 25-year-old has hit .266 with 12 home runs and 59 RBI in 120 games this season. Gotay was the only other Braves player to join the active roster Monday, but the team announced a host of moves Sunday that will occur prior to Tuesday's game against the Florida Marlins. The Braves will purchase the contracts of catcher Corky Miller and pitchers Jorge Julio and James Parr from Triple-A Richmond, while pitchers Charlie Morton and Jeff Ridgway will be recalled from Richmond along with infielder Brent Lillibridge. Morton will make Tuesday's start against the Marlins. To make room on the 40-man roster, the Braves will transfer outfielder Matt Diaz and right-handed pitcher Rafael Soriano, both done for the season, from the 15-day to 60-day disabled list.
