Phoenix, AZ (Sports Network) - Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Justin Upton left Monday's 8-6 win over the St. Louis Cardinals after being hit in the head by a pickoff attempt at first base. In the bottom of the eighth inning, with Brad Thompson on the mound, Upton hit a one-out single. While leading off first, Thompson tried to throw him out but the ball hit Upton in the side of the head. The former No. 1 overall pick got up but immediately fell to the ground and clutched his head. He was attended to by team trainers, but walked off under his own power. He was replaced in the game by Tony Clark. In 87 games this season, Upton is hitting .244 with 11 homers and 31 runs batted in.
