Rosenthal with "Five Trades That Should Happen"

Ken Rosenthal offers "Five Trades That Should Happen," and of course, Alfonso Soriano is a centerpiece in one of the five.

Rosenthal suggests that Soriano go to the Cards for Jason Marquis, Ray King, and a prospect.  Personally, I think that would be an outstanding deal for the Rangers, and if the Rangers could pull that off, I'd be thrilled.

with the Rangers whether they made the trade or refused to make the trade.

Good Lord.
That would be a great deal. I think LaRussa can't stand Marquis or King, so what otherwise might seem like a pipe dream, could in fact be possible.

Quantity over quality?
I'm not too wild over Jason Marquis, and Ray King had awful peripheral numbers last year.

I guess it's not a bad return for Soriano, but compared some of the guys mentioned in trade talks involving him at the trade deadline, this is a downgrade.

Only problem is ...
... none of the guys that were talked about at the trade deadline ever materialized.  The only confirmed offer was Lohse, Romero and a prosepect.  I'll take Marquis, King, and a prospect over that first package every time.

Soriano isn't nearly as valuable as some of us would like to believe.

I have no delusions about Soriano's worth, but he is one of the best second baseman in baseball, and an All-Star.

The Mets trade(Cameron, and Heilman) sounded great.
