Pedro a Padre

I don't know if Adam would bother to comment on such ephemera, but in the interest of completeness, I will note that Pedro Astacio has signed a minor-league deal with the San Diego Padres.  You can watch him pitch if you're in the Portland area.

For now, Texas still owes him the rest of his $800,000 base contract.  By my calculations, he also earned $175,000 in incentives ($25,000 for starts 10-12, plus $150,000 for his two full months on the active roster).

So if Pedro is successful in San Diego
Will Fraley beat us down with another article about how Buck ran off a great pitcher without realizing his potential?

Yes.
Diamond then locked eyes with the hitter and wondered out loud whether it would be funny if he were to "wear a fastball"... Jamey Newberg

i seriously doubt it
fraley said getting rid of drese was a bad idea immediately after they got rid of him and just reiterated that fact after drese's first start (and probably will again after 10 or so starts).

he has an anti management bias, but he doesnt' put himself in a position to defend points that are ludicrous, like holding on to astacio.
