The Rangers have signed Mark Teixeira to a 2 year, $15.4 million deal, avoiding arbitration the next two years as a result.
Encouraging news, and a little surprising that Teixeira would do a two year deal, since Scott Boras had earlier said that Teixeira would only consider a three year deal or a ten year deal.
There's very little risk for the Rangers...Teixeira makes $6 million and $9.4 million the next two seasons, which is reasonable and short-term.
And this bodes well for the possibility of working out a longer-term extension sometime in the next few months.
