6/12/06 game day thread

Lineup up...

Mench, Laird and Hairston on the bench...

John Koronka vs. Jose Contreras, which I think may be Spanish for "John Koronka"...

Go Rangers...

Hairston's in
It looks like Matthews is on the bench.

I'm personally not a fan of Hairston leading off. I like a leadoff hitter with a .260 OBP as much as the next guy, but...

Buckrajas sucks

hmm
interesting lineup, atleast botts is at dh again
Pimps be damned, it's harder out here for a Rangers fan!

by rentz on Jun 12, 2006 5:43 PM CDT reply actions

Oh sweet LORD
How hard is Koronka gonna get his tits lit this game. Its not gonna be pretty. Start the game with someone warming up.

by TexGoesYard on Jun 12, 2006 5:49 PM CDT reply actions

Seriously
Hairston at leadoff? I admit he's got some speed, he played well in his last game, but it usually takes an act of Congress for Buck to move people up in the lineup. Maybe Ian would have been a little better, but I understand the concern with him being a rookie and added pressure in the leadoff spot.
Buckrajas sucks

excellent
just realized the game is on fsn too....thought i would be stuck with the torture that is the espn team

Spoiled...
I pray for games to come onto ESPN so that I can watch them. :)

Although it looks like I may not want to watch them tonight.

Wilkerson looks terrible in LF.

yup
sure does

No crap
hope Contreras brought his F game.

by cjbray on Jun 12, 2006 6:18 PM CDT reply actions

What did you guys expect
Koronka's honeymoon effect of being a new pitcher has worn off, he has below average stuff and is nothing special.

by TexGoesYard on Jun 12, 2006 6:22 PM CDT reply actions

Let's...
...give him another start or two to make adjustments before writing him off, huh?

by Dustin on Jun 12, 2006 6:27 PM CDT up reply actions

Negative.
I say get rid of him now. You don't have to give him another start, to what, see his below average stuff? That he just desperatly tries to hurl over the plate and get rocked.

by TexGoesYard on Jun 12, 2006 6:28 PM CDT up reply actions

Patience
MLB hitters will hit bad pitchers no matter if they're new to them or not.  He brought something to the table for a while, and the scouts caught up to him.  Give him a chance to adjust.

He has stuff...he just doesn't have a hard fastball.

by Dustin on Jun 12, 2006 6:31 PM CDT up reply actions

yes
and lets get rid of millwood and padilla too, and kevin mench and teixeira while we're at it
michael young doesnt have enough hr's...lets get rid of him too...move kinsler to ss and derosa to 2b

not pretty early
unfortunate to get into an early hole versus contreras, who is on a 14 game winning streak.

by Agreen07 on Jun 12, 2006 6:31 PM CDT reply actions

benoit
i'd rather take my chances with koronka
Pimps be damned, it's harder out here for a Rangers fan!

by rentz on Jun 12, 2006 6:34 PM CDT up reply actions

it seems
like even the outs are coming on hard hit balls.

by Agreen07 on Jun 12, 2006 6:35 PM CDT up reply actions

I'd still get Benoit up
If for no other reason than to keep Koronka out of pschotherapy.  It's getting out of hand, two DP's have kept it from being ball game.

by Ed Coffin on Jun 12, 2006 6:39 PM CDT up reply actions

So how long are we gonna keep him in?
Because if you will notice my first post, saying he was going to get rocked, and to have someone warming up to start the game.

Maybe I should be the coach.

Koronka is so bad.

by TexGoesYard on Jun 12, 2006 6:38 PM CDT reply actions

I wouldn't
say he is bad...this is his first real season in the majors, so I would give him a little bit of slack.    And he was pitching well recently, with 3 out of his last 4 starts giving up 3 or less earned runs.

by Agreen07 on Jun 12, 2006 6:42 PM CDT up reply actions

No, you shouldn't be the coach.
Manager, GM, or even ballboy.

time to send his ass
back to triple a

i just turned the game off

koronka
i'm not ready to write the guy off yet, nor will i write off rheineker when he starts his struggles.
Pimps be damned, it's harder out here for a Rangers fan!

by rentz on Jun 12, 2006 6:42 PM CDT reply actions

Did the Cubs
write off Greg Maddux after he had a 5.61 ERA in his first full season in the majors? no.  Am I calling him Greg Maddux? No.  Do I think you give a guy some oppurtunities to work out his problems when he has shown in previous starts he has the capability to be a good pitcher? yes

by Agreen07 on Jun 12, 2006 6:44 PM CDT reply actions

previous starts
like in seattle?

by TexGoesYard on Jun 12, 2006 6:46 PM CDT up reply actions

no
i was referring to the start before vs oak, and the one before that vs houston.

by Agreen07 on Jun 12, 2006 6:47 PM CDT up reply actions

Im not saying he should be gone
Because of his starts, which some have been good, but he has not won in his last 5, and make that last 6 for tonight.

Im saying he has no stuff, he has what, a low 90's fastball? A somewhat decent slider? Does not really have a solid out pitch. I mean every club just keeps racking up hits on him. I don't see much of a future for him.

by TexGoesYard on Jun 12, 2006 6:52 PM CDT up reply actions

hmm
sounds a lot like kenny rogers to me
Pimps be damned, it's harder out here for a Rangers fan!

by rentz on Jun 12, 2006 6:54 PM CDT up reply actions

No wins in his last 5
In two of those games, he gave up 2 runs, and in another one, he gave up 3 runs...

Three of those five games he pitched well enough to win...he just didn't get the run support...

by Adam J. Morris on Jun 12, 2006 7:10 PM CDT up reply actions

Contreras
is showing that you can pitch in TBIA lol

by Agreen07 on Jun 12, 2006 6:57 PM CDT reply actions

yeah
if no one ever hits the ball its going to stay in the yard :)

though if you believe espn a bunt could carry out to be a homerun because of the wind

thats true

Ranger's back to their old selves, 12 K's.....O BB's.....Did we bring back Nix ?

I guess it's a good thing ESPN has the game
because the FSN feed keeps cutting out... at least for me...

Audio, but no picture...

by WhipSmart on Jun 12, 2006 7:04 PM CDT reply actions

fsn
i switched over to espn because the audio on fsn is just too damn low...and everytime a commercial comes on it becomes insanely loud

by rentz on Jun 12, 2006 7:05 PM CDT up reply actions

I take it all back...
the ESPN commentators for this game suck...

I think I'd rather listen to the audio of Tom and Josh and use my imagination...

by WhipSmart on Jun 12, 2006 7:09 PM CDT up reply actions

yeah
i had the espn booth..i just got tired of that super low audio...though fsn is always that way for me

by rentz on Jun 12, 2006 7:09 PM CDT up reply actions

make that
hate the espn booth

by rentz on Jun 12, 2006 7:10 PM CDT up reply actions

They do that on purpose
...and it's illegal.  I guess the FCC is too busy these days looking for wardrobe malfunctions and such to deal with something that affects everyone.

by Dustin on Jun 12, 2006 7:21 PM CDT up reply actions

we still
haven't hit the ball out of the infield.

by Agreen07 on Jun 12, 2006 7:12 PM CDT reply actions

More brilliant commentary...
"That's going to get most people...Mike Young is not normal..."

I don't think Mike Young is significantly faster than most players down the first base line...

by Adam J. Morris on Jun 12, 2006 7:13 PM CDT reply actions

haha
yeah that commentary made me chuckle
Pimps be damned, it's harder out here for a Rangers fan!

by rentz on Jun 12, 2006 7:14 PM CDT up reply actions

Well, in MLB 06: The Show...
His speed rating is at the maximum. Clearly, the game and Drunk Sutcliffe are better sources for determining player speed than how fast Mike Young actually runs.
I AM BENDER, PLEASE INSERT GIRDER.

isn't that a sign of the Apocolypse..?

Wish we had a pitcher like that.
