Rangers sign Benoit to a two year deal
T.R. Sullivan says the Rangers have signed Joaquin Benoit to a two year deal, which buys out his last arbitration year and his first free agent year.
Nice signing by Texas, locking up a guy who has been solid out of the pen. I'm guessing it is something like $5-6 million over the 2 years.

No
The Rangers
DOES anyone
Texas
He is on his way to being Carlos Lee fat
id love mcab...
the #1 position player id want right now is a legit power threat corner OF. I could deal with murphy in center, byrd/cat in left if we had real power in a corner spot..
im still interested in that japanese OF, although hes not supposed to be a huge power guy.
anyway......... very glad to sign benoit. would have been nice to get a club option 3rd year or something in case he becomes a cheap closer but 2 years works.
so yeah, i consider that very nice news. now if aki can just get healthy over the winter...
Cabrera
By 2009 some of the big time arms of the system will start creeping into the majors with Hurley and Volquez hopefully comfortably in the majors.
I don't think at this point you will be depleating the system to get Cabrera. I'd trade three maybees for one Cabrera in a heartbeat. You better be prepared to money whip the hell out of him once you get him though.

Lets start some talks with Ian now as well and try to get that done also.
Excellent Signing
Personally, I'd like to keep him. The guy is a stud.
