Braves get Ohman, Infante from Cubs

The Braves and Cubs have made a minor deal, with reliever Will Ohman and utilityman Omar Infante going to the Atlanta Braves for minor league relievers Jose Ascencio.

Infante had just come over from the Tigers in the Jacque Jones deal, and is a pretty decent utility guy, while Ohman is apparently to replace Ron Mahay in the lefty-out-of-the-pen role.

Ascencio got a C+ from John Sickels, is 22 years old and threw hard, and well, in AA last year.

has this update: "The Rangers continue to talk to the Cubs about Mark Prior." Depends on the price, but I'm interested.

Why?

Prior can opt out after the '08 season. It hardly seems worth it to give up something for one (injury filled?) season.

you hope the Rangers doctors do a thorough evaluation. Then if you can get him for, a low level guy or even a Galarraga/Feldman type. Then you can flip him for a decent prospect this summer. And if the deal doesn't work out,well you weren't banking on him for anything anyway, and he's wasn't going to resurrect the Ranger franchise in anyway. Now, if it cost's anything of significance, no way.
