Tony LaRussa arrested

Cards manager Tony LaRussa has been arrested on a DUI, after being found passed out at the wheel of his SUV at a red light in Jupiter, Florida.

He blew a .093, which is above the legal limit.

So he's in trouble now.

that will cause him to be automatically suspended for something like this or will it be up to the team or league to make a decision?

that familiar with drunkenness, but couldn't a person make the mistake of not realizing they were too drunk to drive at 0.09. Not that he should have been driving once he drank anything. I mean how drunk is 0.09?

Also, I think saying he was "passed out" is a serious exaggeration. Maybe he was technically but I have heard of people falling asleep at stop lights when they were driving home from a midnight shift. It doesn't take that much to fall asleep at the wheel.

He was also very apologetic and took full responsibility and admitted how much he had embarrassed his family and organization.

Without knowing how long he was at the bar, how much he's weighing these days, or what he was drinking, its hard to know exactly, but just for the sake of example:

TheSmokingGun says he was picked up around midnight, so lets say he was at the bar from 9-11:30, 2 1/2 hours. He's 6'1" and weighed about 190 back in his playing days. Lets just guess that he weighs in somewhere around 230. And he's an MLB manager so he's probably not drinking Old Milwaukee, he seems like the kind of guy that might do shots of black label.

With those assumptions, Tony could do between 5 and 6 single shots of 80 proof liquor in 2 1/2 hours and get a BAC over the legal limit. About 6 pints of beer would have the same effect.

You have to be pretty drunk to get to .093. You'd pretty well know that you'd been drinking.
