Dotel to the ChiSox

The ChiSox have signed Octavio Dotel to a 2 year, $11 million deal...

Dotel now joins Scott Linebrink, who got a 4 year deal, and presumably will set up Bobby Jenks for the ChiSox in 2008...

spending lots of money on a bullpen is never wise. At least this deal is 2 years instead of the ridiculous 4 they gave Linebrink.

If we could have talked Dotel into a 1 yr deal

I would have rather had him than Guardado.

But releif pitching is a precious commodity these days - when you're LaTroy Hawkins or Dotel, and you still get a nice fat multi-year deal, you know there is just nobody else on the market.

I'm not denying Dotel is good

As I said, I'd rather have him than Guardado.

But he hasn't appeared in more than 30 games since '04 - 2 years and 11 million is a lot for a guy who's had three consecutive injury riddled seasons.
