Friday a.m. things
Evan Grant has a story up on the mixed bag that was Luis Mendoza's outing yesterday...Mendoza retired the first 10 batters he faced, and then didn't get anyone else out...
There's also more love for Josh Hamilton, who has reached base 7 consecutive times now...
T.R. Sullivan's Friday blog has some quotes from Jason Botts, Milton Bradley, and Jason Jennings, among others...
Sullivan also reports that six players have been sent to the minor league camp -- Taylor Teagarden, A.J. Murray, Matt Harrison, Warner Madrigal, Brandon Boggs, and Nate Gold...
Gil LeBreton talks about the possibility of the Rangers being this year's Colorado Rockies...
And Jeff Wilson has an item up on the battle for the starting catching job...

My guess...
Salty starts the year in AAA and is called up in early June to take over the starting CA job. I think he is dealt by the ASB in '09 when TT is ready.
TT starts in AA this year and is up to AAA when Salty is promoted. He starts '09 in AAA and becomes the starter when Salty is dealt.
MaxRam is the DH in AA and spells TT at CA there a couple times a week this year. Starting CA at AA when TT is promoted. He is not good enough defensively at CA to make it to the majors but can mash at the plate. The Rangers try to find another position for him to play, or he is dealt as well, but that decision is probably 2 years away.
This is all just speculation and assuming that all these guys perform well and there are no injuries though. How do you see it playing out t ball?

Rockies
EMC is quick to point out how little the Rangers resemble the Rockies.
Ponson, Mench, Broussard, Guardado, and I'll put Bradley in there too - same story year nine...

Bob Costas ridicules bloggers
''I understand with newspapers struggling and hoping to hold on to, or possibly expand their audiences, I understand why they do what they do,'' Costas said. 'But it's one thing if somebody just sets up a blog from their mother's basement in Albuquerque and they are who they are, and they're a pathetic get-a-life loser, but now that pathetic get-a-life loser can piggyback onto someone who actually has some level of professional accountability and they can be comment No. 17 on Dan Le Batard's column or Bernie Miklasz' column in St. Louis. That, in most cases, grants a forum to somebody who has no particular insight or responsibility. Most of it is a combination of ignorance or invective.''
"It's just a high-tech place for idiots to do what they used to do on bar stools or in school yards, if they were school yard bullies, or on men's room walls in gas stations. That doesn't mean that anyone with half a brain should respect it.''

Bloggers
It reminds me of this book:

Thank you for having a clue, Adam. "Deep analysis" becomes you.
