The Dodgers are concerned with the weight of Andruw Jones, who is currently 245 lbs.

Jones says he played at 235 lbs. in his peak years, and blames his struggles last year on dropping down to 220 lbs., which he says was too light for him.

What's strange is, B-R has him at 6'1", 170 lbs.

His PECOTA card has him at 6'1", 210 lbs, as does the official Dodgers website (and I admit, I first went to http://www.atlantabraves.com, just out of reflex).

May be nothing. I don't know.

Seriously, he's terrible. I can't stress how bad he sucks at basketball right now. He's 3-13 from the field, and that's actually not indicative of how piss poor he looks out there. Stop giving him the ball.

If his back (or whatever) is really bothering him that much, sit him the f down for a few weeks, cause he's doing the team more harm than good trying to play through it.

Well,

he is wrong because almost every other mock draft says he is around pick 17.

If a team wants to draft a 5-10 point guard that will be a defensive liability then more power to them. He won't get the looks at 3's like he has in college either.

That said... I think he'd be a pretty horrible fit here given our PG situation and rapidly shrinking window.

But with a veteran team like this, if they do land in the lottery I'd rather see them use the pick in concert with J-Ho (who is the only non-German Mav with trade value) to try get a third veteran "star" to pair with Dirk and Kidd, then use Jason Kidd's vaunted free agent luring prowess to try to land someone decent with the mid-level.

I'm thinking out loud here... would you trade Josh Howard and the #11 pick to Milwaukee for Michael Redd and Charlie Villanueva? Heck, would Milwaukee do that?

Or what about a sign and trade with Washington if Gilbert Arenas looks like he's going to bolt?

If we miss the playoffs, we're going to have problems big enough that I don't think a guy like Kevin Love (who I'm enamored with [basketball-wise]) is going to be the answer we need.

Why would we trade for Arenas? He is the exact same type of PG that we traded away in Harris. He doesn't make players around him better, and why would we get him with Kidd here.

A better idea would be to do a sign and trade with the Heat, they sign him to a contaract when he opts out this offseason and we trade them J-Ho.

I'm pretty sure Dwight would have started if he'd gone to A&M as a Freshman, and would've averaged more than 9ppg, too.

I've heard that comp from other sources (Chad Ford, for one), but it's laughable. Like comparing Tskitishvilli and every other Euro to Dirk. Just cause a kid is big and athletic and young doesn't mean he's anywhere close to Dwight, who's truly special.

Gilbert Arenas and Devin Harris are the exact same type of players? WTF???

Gilbert is not a true PG, and he never has been. He's a SG in a PG's body, whereas Devin was a slash-first PG.

Arenas differs from Harris in that Arenas is a scorer, plain and simple. He averaged 29 and 28 ppg in '05-'06 and '06-'07. He's a very different beast. If anything he's very similar to Terry, who's also a SG in a PG's body, though Arenas is much more adept at creating his own shot.

And who the Hell are we getting in that trade from the Heat? Who is this "him"? Marion, I suppose?

Your just proved my point even more... Why do we need another 6-4 SG trapped in a point guard body? We already have Terry, why would we want a injury prone, and defensive of a liability with Arenas?

And he is going to be asking for Max money, why would we want to spend all that money on that?

We need a Raja Bell type player at SG, someone who can defend the best player on the other team.

JET is a shooter.

And right now we only have one scorer on the team. (Unless you count Stack.) And Gilbert is light years ahead of JET.

And, well...

Basically you're focusing on the wrong part of the story.

I was just throwing a scenario out there. I'd have to do some research into Gilbert (how bad is his injury? I don't know), but it's the type of move I would think about, if not necessarily advocate.

This team needs someone else to score when Dirkles isn't on. Jet's too reliant on open jumpers. Stack's too old. Howard lacks a go-to move. Kidd can't shoot. Someone has to be able to score when Dirk doesn't.

And if you got someone like Arenas to play in the backcourt with Kidd, you could get a Bruce-Bowen-type SF to defend the oppositions best perimeter player.

It's something to think about.

We will have to match that in the trade. So it really isn't possible unless we trade Howard and Stack.

and you'd have to send them some pretty serious salary back, since he's likely to command a pretty large sum.

Howard + some more salary.

Not sure if it'd be workable or not, it depends what other sorts of salary we'd have to send them in return, and how much Gilbert would sign for.

So basically: It's possible, but highly unlikely.

on Dirk's cranky ankles and the Mavs can pack it in for the year. With Dirk, the Mavs are at least competitive. Without him, they are a lottery team.

If we traded Howard for Marion this offseason, that would make the team so much better.

Marion can guard the best player on the opposing team and can keep up with Kidd's offense.

I mean, he was the key to the Sun's entire team.

Well

RealGM says that Terry/Howard for Marion would work salary-wise. I can't quite figure out if that's too much or too little. Of course, we could always expand the thing to try to net Miami's 1st, which possibly could land us Beasley, but I seriously seriously doubt they'd have any interest in that.

Still, Marion is an interesting name to consider, because it has become painfully clear that when Dirk isn't on the floor--and even sometimes when he is--this team doesn't have the offense to keep up with the best teams or the perimeter defense to stop them.

First of all: I think the possibility of getting Miami's high lottery pick is absolute zero.

I also doubt they want anything to do with Terry, but who knows... maybe they think he'd be a great catch-and-shoot guard to pair with DwyGod, who initiates the offense for them most of the time anyways.

But if Marion opts out (or demands a trade) and we had a chance to add Marion this off season without giving up Kidd, Dirk or Damp (who I think is more valuable than most people care to admit)... you pretty much have to do it.

Marion excels at running the floor, he can hit open threes, he's a great rebounder, he's a fierce 1-on-1 defender who can guard 3's or 4's, and he's a good help side shot blocker.

He's basically the best possible SF to pair with a guy like Dirk.

A front line of Damp/Dirk/Marion would be absolutely gigantic, and it would allow you to (somewhat) mask the fact that Kidd couldn't keep my Grandmother in front of him defensively.
