Alex Gordon is a Little Bitch

This is being rehashed from the spring training incident that occurred after Gordon's wife was interviewed by The Hardline's Corby Davidson (aka - Cobra, Snake, Coby, etc.).  http://www.kansascity.com/sports/story/596110.html

I hope anyone who actually goes to the game heckles this over-reacting, humorless, Teix starter kit, douchebag, until he starts crying and challenges every Ranger fan to a fist fight.

J-Ho Pissed me off last night

Remember when analysts used to praise J-ho because all his points were "hustle points" and you never had "run plays for him"  and "if he scores 20 the mavs are going to win because it means their effort and energy were through the roof."

Now the only way he can score is off an iso play that is called specifically for him.  He doesn't crash the offensive boards.  He no longer has his "pogo-stick" reflexes to put back his own missed shots at the rim.

My biggest gripe with him is on defense though.  He doesn't help, he plays with his hands, and he is lethargic.  It sucks about his personal issues, but be a pro, leave that shit at home.  I think he has read too many of his press clippings and now that he is getting paid he is happy to loaf around jacking up 20 footers like McGrady.

OT: UFOs Invade Stephenville

This story is now being picked up nationally.  I'm not sure what these people saw, but it is interesting that so many have reported seeing something.  My father used to be a pastor in Stephenville and that is one of those small Texas super god-fearing towns where no one would admit anything like this because they would be labeled as crazy.  http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/metropolitan/5454709.html

Michael Young Frustration

The dude is driving me nuts.  He hasn't had an extra base hit since June 15th.  That is 15 games with only singles.  His power potential has completely vanished.  It seems as though he is always behind in the count and thus his hits are on defensive swings which, at best, result in singles to right field.  He has only had a 2-0 count 34 times this season and he has worked the count to 3-0 only 14 times. He is seeing the fewest pitches per PA for his entire career (3.5).  I know that he has been hitting for better average, but it doesn't seem to be producing much.  He seems like a guy that would bat 7th on a good team, not 3rd.

Norm on THE TICKET

Just had a really interesting stat.

The Rangers are 21-1 when they lead after the 6th inning.  Damn good bullpen.

If they could get that minimum of a quality start this team could be so much better.  It makes me reluctant to trade any bullpen pieces other than Gagne.

Teix Talk

from the Minneaplois Star Tribune:

"How about Lowell?

Since the Twins appear to be looking into upgrading at third base, there might be a player in Boston who is available.

Mike Lowell entered Wednesday batting .311 with 11 homers and 47 RBI. He's in the final year of a contract paying him $9 million, but it's believed the Red Sox would be willing to eat a chunk of the salary.

At first glance, it wouldn't make sense for the Red Sox to part with Lowell, but there are some whispers that Boston would like to move Kevin Youkilis to third base and go after the Texas Rangers' Mark Teixeira."

Kata DFA'd

Well this should make everyone happy.  Per the Hardline just now.  They are talking about Kata's wife.  They interviewed her during spring training and she said that Matt had no back up plan to being a pro baseball player.  Doesn't he know that he is Matt Kata?  Doesn't his first hand knowledge of his talent level make a back up profession necessary?

Teix is worthless

They just played a postgame quote on the Ticket Ticker of Teix saying, "I am felling better, you know it always takes me a while to get going, but I need to start playing better if this team is going to turn the corner."

Wow. Mensa level statement. He admits and believes that he is a slow starter and will always be a slow starter.  Way to give us some hope Teix.

Norm on THE TICKET

Good stats on Ranger pitching.  The staff has a WHIP of 1.53.  That ranks 27 out of 30 teams.  Perhaps all of the hitting woes have overshadow the poor overall pitching.  Yes, some of these statistics like a team ERA of 5.21 (28 out of 30 teams) could be abberations due to a few blowouts, but there should be some attention paid to these numbers.  20 games is a good sample size.
