Where's my morning LSB update?

Goodness!  I didn't realize how addicted I had become to my daily Rangers scoop from Lone Star Ball. I've been checking all morning waiting for Adam to post something....

Guess I'll keep waiting.

sigh...

Pinch Hit Murphy

So why did Wash pinch hit Cruz for Murphy?  I know it worked out well from the defensive side, but if that was his reasoning I would have thought Wash would do that AFTER Murphy had batted.  Am I just reading too much into murph's small sample size performance? He seems to have a hot bat right now...

Botts hitting #4

Anybody else surprised by this?  I didn't see the game last night, but I figured he'd be relegated to 6 or 7 esp after 0-5.  I guess Wash is showing some faith.  I guess I was expecting a Buck reaction...  which probably meant he wouldn't be starting at all...

Scott Lucas hits the nail on the head

I've been thinking the problem with the Rangers isn't just a GM/Manager issue over the last few years. I've always thought Hicks wasn't getting enought of the blame. And its not a payroll issue.

http://www.rangers.scottlucas.com/archives/2006/10/showalter_fired.html After Texas unexpectedly won 89 games in 2004, only the second winning season during Hicks's tenure, he signed Hart to a rolling two-year extension and Showalter to a three-year extension with a club option. Nine months later, Hicks reassigned Hart. One year and nine months later, he fired Showalter before his extension began. Mull that one over.

Food for thought

If the Rangers had the exact same record in the National League, that they do in the American League, ...

...wait for it...

They would be leading the wild card race by one half game.

Arizona is currently second in the NL wild card at .500.

Are they really going to let a team with a losing record in the playoffs?

Should baseball teams with a losing record be allowed in the playoffs?
Yes, they met the relative qualifying criteria.

Yes, because we can't let league revenues suffer by not holding a playoff series

Volquez

How did Edinson Volquez come to be with the Rangers organinzation?  I am assuming he was an international free agent signing or something.  Is this correct?

Hurley in Hardballtimes

Hurley gets mentioned as possibly our best pitching prospect.  No mention wether he has the best mustache or not...

http://www.hardballtimes.com/main/article/minor-matters-unlisted-pitching-prospects-worth-knowing/

I'm interested in seeing where Hurley ends up at the  end of the year.

I'm also interested in seeing if this is enough to submit for the diary.
