Jim Reeves with a column on Kenny Rogers' situation.
Again, as someone who remembers when Kenny was a hard-throwing setup man for Jeff Russell, a guy who debuted the same season that Rafael Palmeiro and Nolan Ryan and Julio Franco started their stints as Rangers, who was pitching with an outfield of Pete Incaviglia, Cecil Espy, and Ruben Sierra behind him...
Reading items like the Reeves column, and seeing how this situation has played out, makes me sad.
Rogers has spent a lot of years as a Ranger. He's been a part of a lot of Rangers memories for me. And I believe him when he says that he wishes he could retire as a Ranger.
It is just very disappointing that things between him and the front office have grown so toxic.
