The Cubs have given Ryan Dempster a 3 year, $15.5 million extension.

Seriously. Ryan Dempster.

The same Ryan Dempster who is having his first good season since 2000, and only his second good season in the majors.

And why? Because he had 33 saves this season.

That's an awful lot of money to give a guy, based on one good season in relief, particularly with his injury history.
