In one of the less surprising moves of the offseason, the Philadelphia Phillies have fired g.m. Ed Wade.
Wade, who had been on the job since March of 1998, was about as popular in Philly as John Hart was in Texas, and while Wade has had more success there than Hart has here, at the end of the day, the Rangers have been to the playoffs more recently than Philly has. And while Philadelphia has been the hip pick for the last half-decade or so to knock off the Braves in the N.L. East, they never could quite get over the hump.
