Padres reject Giles' proposal of 3 years, $30 million

The Padres have rejected a contract proposal from Brian Giles, which was reportedly 3 years at nearly $30 million.

And Sandy Alderson called the Giles camp's characterization of the deal as including a hometown discount "baloney," which doesn't bode well for the possibility of this rift being repaired.

The Rangers need to get in on Giles. Come in with 3 years, $35 million, plug him in in either left or right field. Hell, he can play center, if need be. He'd soften the blow of trading Soriano or Mench, if Daniels needs to make those deals. He'd provide an ideal #3 hitter to hit in front of Teixeira, a guy with a great OBP and power.

Go get Giles, Jon Daniels...
