Huston Street and Ryan Howard have been named the A.L. ROY and N.L. ROY, respectively.
Both are solid selections. The Howard pick surprised me a little, because I was getting a sense that Wily Tavares' full season of mediocrity would result in more votes than Howard's half-season of greatness, plus Jeff Francoeur's hot debut seemed to be garnering a lot of attention. But Tavares and Francoeur finished second and third, respectively.
In the A.L., Robinson Cano and Johnny Gomes finished 2nd and 3rd, respectively.
Gomes, Tad Iguchi, and Dan Johnson all were probably more deserving than Cano, but all in all, the writers did a pretty good job with this one.
