Kathleen O'Brien seems to have tracked down John Hart on Wednesday, and gotten him to speak on the record about the Dodgers job.
A lot of g.m.-speak, with John Hart saying he's "not looking for a job," and explaining:
"My strong pull is towards the Rangers,'' Hart said. "If I had to make the call (tonight), that's probably where I envision myself going forward. I am not pursuing (the Dodgers' position). I had a great conversation with Frank McCourt. I probably do have a decision to make, but it would have to be something really special to pull me away from the Rangers.''
Either he really doesn't know what he wants to do, or he's squeezing McCourt for better terms. I'm guessing the latter.
I expect an announcement by this time next week, saying Hart is going to L.A. as g.m., and Hershiser is going with him to be his assistant g.m.
