Brett Tomko = Ridiculously Overpaid

The Dodgers have reportedly signed Brett Tomko to a two year, $8.7 million deal.

What the Showalter is going on this offseason?

Brett Freaking Tomko?

A guy who turns 33 at the beginning of the 2006 season, whose ERA+ over the past five years has been:

92
110
79
85
81

What is going on with the world? What happened to the standard-issue, 1 year, $2.5 million deals every scrub starting pitcher was getting a couple of years ago?

This is just mystifying. Tomko is a sub-mediocre pitcher. He has a low strikeout rate, walks too many batters, and is homer prone.

I don't get it.

In this market, maybe Kevin Millwood is worth 5 years, $55 million.
