Rangers and Millwood "not close"

Kathleen O'Brien reports in the S-T today that the Rangers have made a contract offer to Millwood, but that the two sides are not close on the financial aspects of a deal.

O'Brien says that Boras is asking for something similar to what A.J. Burnett wants, but suggests that the general feeling is that Millwood's deal should be closer to the 4 year, $37.5 million deal that Jarrod Washburn received from the Mariners.

Texas and Boston appear to be the leading suitors for Millwood right now, with Boston cranking up after having lost Johnny Damon, since adding Millwood would make it easier for them to part with Bronson Arroyo to get Jeremy Reed from the Mariners.
